Sandeep Chowta is a renowned music director. For the first time in the history of Indian cinema, background scores became more popular than the original tracks. Sandeep’s versatility in music comes from the different geographic locations that he’s lived in. He was born in Ghana, raised partly in Nigeria and Bangalore and now resides in Chennai. His music has created waves through the country.
He has always had a keen interest in jazz. He chose to pursue his passion for music instead of getting involved in the family hospitality business. In his earlier days he was part of the band called “Pulse”. He got his chance to be a music director with the Telugu movie Ninne Pelladutha, which was a major success. It turned out to be one of the biggest ever. His debut Hindi movie was Sanam but his film Satya, was which established him in Bollywood. His songs from Ram Gopal Varma’s blockbusters ‘Mast’ and ‘Jungle’ were strikingly brilliant, as were songs like “Kambakth Ishq” from Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya and "Khallas" from Company. Sandeep has introduced many talents into the industry like VIVA and Sunidhi Chauhan. His smashing songs from the Telugu movie Super resulted in Telugu songs making it to the national channels for the first time.
Sandeep’s immense knowledge of global music has helped him create some of the most happening tunes. He has also directed many stylish and different music videos like Khubsoorat and Call of the Lover. Recently he directed an effective ten-minute short film titled ‘Dead End’ which is about the drug peddling menace rampant in the country. His music is always fabulous and defies global segregations. He is the only Asian composer to feature amongst songwriters like Sir Paul Mcartney and Natasha Bedingfield on the worldwide album “TEMPERATURE RISING”.
