Rani Mukherjee also known as the Rani of Bollywood. She’s one of the best actresses in Indian cinema. Born in a family of talent and celebrities it’s no wonder this 21 March 1978 Aries has acting in her blood. Her father’s Ram Mukherjee was a former director and her mother Krishna was a playback singer. She has a brother Raja, a producer turned director. One of her aunts is amongst Bollywood’s most talented actresses, Tanuja whose sister was the Late actress Nutan. Her other Aunt Debashree Roy’s a popular Bengali actress. Her uncle was film producer Shomu Mukherjee.
Her family includes film producers Joy and Deb Mukherjee, her grandfather was the filmmaker Sashadhar Mukherjee who was married to Satirani Devi, the sister of Ashok, Anoop and Kishore Kumar. Her Late grandmother, Shobhna Samrathand, great grandmother Rattan Bai, her cousins Kajol, Tanishaa and Sharbani Mukherjee are actresses. Her other cousins are director Ayan Mukherji and distant cousin actor Monish Behl. She is also related to Ajay Devgan as he’s Kajol’s huband.
Rani first made a short appearance in the Bengali movie Biyer Phool in 1992. She was then seen in the unsuccessful movie Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat in 1996. She then returned to college. Ghulam came as Rani’s break in 1998 opposite Amir Khan but it was Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, which turned her into a star. Some of her successful movies are: Badal, Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Saathiya, Chalte Chalte, Yuva, Hum Tum, Veer-Zaara, Black, Bunty Aur Babli, Paheli, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Ta Ra Rum Pum and Dil Bole Hadippa.
Always known for her phenomenal acting and lively nature, she has done extremely well and done justice to all the roles offered to her. Rani is looked upon as the finest and most talented actresses in Indian Cinema.
