Phoonk 2
The foundation of Phoonk 2 dates back to the fact that the Director of the movie, the debutant Milind Gadagkar, who was also the writer of Ram Gopal Verma’s “Phoonk” had a different version to tell of “Phoonk” than what was translated on the screen by Ram Gopal Verma. This led to Milind coming up with the idea of making a sequel to Phoonk in the form of Phoonk 2.
Phoonk 2 starts from where Phoonk ended. The movie stars not only the same characters but also the same actors as in the first series “Phoonk”, Kannada actor Sudeep, Amruta Khanvilkar, Ashwini Kalsekar, Ahsaas Channa and Shrey Bawa.
The movie is about an evil spirit’s return that shakes up the family. Phoonk was about this evil spirit who was attempting all possible techniques to kill the little girl to torture her father and her father managing to locate a woman tantrik who turns out to be a life saver and kills the evil spirit. Phoonk 2 is about the evil force returning from dead and haunting the lives of the couple, played by Sudeep and Amruta Khanvilkar, and their children, played by Ahsaas Channa and Shrey Bawa and also at the same time brutally murdering the tantrik.
Scheduled for a release on April 16, 2010, this horror, spine chilling, supernatural thriller promises to be one of its kind and Ram Gopal Verma challenges its viewers to watch this movie all alone in a theater and take home Rs 5 lakhs as the award money. The movie has also been made in three languages at the same time. While in Hindi it is called Phoonk 2, in Tamil it has been dubbed as Bommai-2 and in Telugu as Aavaham, meaning “The Possession”.
The movie boasts to be scarier than its first series Phoonk, which received mixed responses from the viewers. I hope the movie keeps its audience on the edge of their seats and is not as scary as “Aag”. You must be wondering if “Aag” was a horror flick. Yes, what would you call a movie that keeps the audience away from the theatres? Hope the movie scare the audience “pant off” and is a better version of its first attempt.
