Page 3 directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and produced by Baldev and Kavita Pushkarna released in 2005, is regarded as one of the best movies in Bollywood. It was written by Madhur, Nina Arora, Manoj Tyagi and Sanjiv Dutta.
The multi star cast consists of Konkona Sen Sharma, Atul Kulkarni, Sandhya Mridul, Tara Sharma, Boman Irani, Bikram Saluja and Upendra Limaye. The movie had songs by Raju Singh and Shamir Tandon like ‘kitne kareeb’ and ‘yahaan zindagi’.
The story’s about a simple small town girl, Madhavi Sharma (Konkona) who comes to the big city Mumbai in search of fulfilling her dreams as a journalist. Her boss Deepak Suri (Boman) gives her the job to interview celebrities.
In Mumbai, Madhavi stays with roommates Pearl Sequiera (Sandhya) an airhostess and Gayatri Sachdeva (Tara). Tara’s an upcoming struggling actress and doesn’t accept the casting couch. She gets involved with an established married actor Rohit Kumar (Bikram). Madhavi also happens to fall in love with a man who she later finds out is gay and is cheating on her with her best friend Abhijeet (Rehaan).
Everything goes well for Gayatri until she gets pregnant and Rohit suggests she gets an abortion done. Gayathri’s devastated and tries to commit suicide but ends up having a miscarriage. Pearl marries an old wealthy American for his money.
An upset Madhavi tries to bring justice for Gayathri and sheds light on Rohit’s affair but has to withdraw the article and apologize as her editor tells her to. Madhavi sickened by the world of glamour starts writing about more serious and current events. She comes across Gayathri one day who gave up her principles and agreed to the casting couch so she can appear in a movie making her realize people have no principles and values in the Film Industry.
