Konkona Sen Sharma is one of the best actresses in Bollywood. This Delhi born beauty of Bengali decent was born on 3 December 1979 and is known for her beautiful skin and power packed performances. She comes from a family of talent born to actress turned director Aparna Sen and Mukul Sharma who is a science writer and journalist. She has one sister, Kamalini Chatterjee. Her grandfather’s professor and writer Childanada Dasgupta and her grandmother is Supriya Dasgupta who is Bengali poet Jibanananda Das’s cousin.
Konkana made her debut in the movie Indira as a child but made her re-entry into movies again in 2000 with a Bengali film Ek Je Aachhe Kanya. She has acted in a lot of offbeat movies but did not get commercial recognition until recently with Page 3 in 2005. She came into the limelight after Mr. and Mrs. Iyer won her the National Film Award for the Best Actress in 2002. Some of her movies were Titli, 15 Park Avenue, Omkara, Dosar, Traffic Signal, Life in a… Metro, Dil Kabadi, Aaja Nachle, Luck by Chance and Wake Up Sid. Konkona has kept away from controversies and maintained a low profile throughout her career. Her personal life came as interest to the media only after she began dating comedian and actor Ranvir Shorey who she got engaged to in 2008. She’s done a lot performance oriented roles in art movies in the initial phase of her career but has now moved on to do more commercial films.
