Flamboyant Karan Johar

Karan Johar is one India’s young and fresh talents. He is the son of Hiro Johar and late Yash Johar and has directed and produced many successful films. He made his Bollywood debut in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge as an actor and assistant director. Karan has great taste in clothes. He selected costumes for Shahrukh Khan, the lead actor in the movie. He continued this practice for several of Shahrukh’s movies like Dil To Pagal Hai, Duplicate, Mohabbatein, Main Hoon Na, VeerZaara and Om Shanti Om.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was his directorial debut staring ShahRukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherji.  Apart from direction, he was also the writer for this movie.  This was a blockbuster hit that won eight Film Fare Awards in various categories. His second film as director, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was yet another movie which stole the spot light. It was a heartwarming movie about loving your parents, which won five Film Fare Awards. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, another ShahRukh Khan starer was a major hit abroad; it was the highest grossing overseas film of all time but it was not too well accepted in India. His latest film, My Name Is Khan is to be released shortly and his is also working on the Hindi remake of the Hollywood flick, Stepmom.

Apart from acting, directing, writing and, telling Shahrukh what to wear, he is also a TV celebrity. Karan hosts his own show, Koffee With Karna, which is a casual, and fun entertaining show with celebrity guests.  This postgraduate in French is currently the head of Dharma Productions, which was established by his father. Besides wining several awards in the entertainment industry, he was honored by being chosen as one of 250 Global Young Leaders by the Geneva-based World Economic Forum 2006.
