Jatin-Lalit
Evergreen Music from Jatin-Lalit
Bollywood film composers duo Jatin-Lalit were the most sought out music directors at one time. They created some of the best memorable songs of Bollywood. Brothers Jatin and Lalit Pandit learned music at a very young age from their father. They were also taught to play the guitar and the piano. They are the brother of Bollywood actresses Sulakshana Pandit and Vijeta Pandit and brother in law to music director Aadesh Shrivastava.
Yaara Dildara was their first Bollywood movie, which came out in 1992. The song “Bin tere sanam” from the movie was a whopping hit, even to this day! "Pehla Nasha" for the movie Khiladi is to this day, one of the most romantic songs. “Ae kya bolti tu” which was sung by actor Aamir Khan in Ghulam is still sung by youngsters especially in college campuses. Undoubtedly, their biggest success factor was with the film, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. On-line voters on the BBC Asian Network judged the soundtrack as the top Hindi soundtrack of all time. Their movies Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai were also on top of the list. Towards the later part of their career they had to share the film sound tracks with other music directors on directors and producers demand, which was not welcomed by the brothers. Their movies Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Chalte Chalte and Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya are some of the movies in which other music directors have contributed some songs too.
The duo split in 2006 due to personal problems after working together for almost 16 years. Strongly influenced by R. D. Burman’s style of music, they created melodies that were the freshest of its kind at that time. By the late 1990s, they became the most wanted music directors in Bollywood.
