All-rounder Farhan Akhtar
Farhan Akhtar is a man of many facets. He is director, producer, scriptwriter, actor, playback singer, lyricist and television host. He comes for a family of creative individuals. No wonder he turned out to be a maestro himself!
He started his career by working as an apprentice with cinematographer-director Manmohan Singh for movies like Lamhe. His writing and directorial debut was the National Award winning Dil Chahta Hai. This was huge critical and commercial success. His second film Lakshya did not do too well at the box-office but it did receive much critical acclaims. His remake of the Amitabh Bachchan film, Don titled Don – The Chase Begins was one of the biggest movies of 2006 grossing over 50 crores. The squeal, Don 2 – The Chase Continues is currently in production. He produced the movie Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. that did pretty well at the box office. He had directed Positive, a 12-minute short film on HIV. The film talks about the need for family support for HIV patient. He had acted in The Fakir of Venice in 2007 and Rock On in 2008. Rock On was a huge hit especially in the metros. He made his singing debut with this film. AR Rahaman had asked him to sing for his movie Blue, but to busy schedule, he declined. He also played the lead role in his sister Zoya’s directorial debut, Luck By Chance.
He will be appearing in three new movies, Kartik calling kartik, Dhruv and Gulel. Farhan was the scriptwriter for Kya Kehna and lyricist for Bride & Prejudice. He the host of NDTV Imagine’s Oye! It’s Friday! It seems like there is nothing that this pool of talent can’t do. He has tried his hand in everything and proved to have the Midas touch!
