Deepika Padukone’s amongst the best actresses in Bollywood. She was born on 5 January 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark, to retired badminton player, Prakash Padukone. Her mother’s a travel agent and she has a younger sister Anisha. They relocated to India when she was eleven months old.

Deepika seriously contemplated becoming a professional badminton player and even played at the National Level. However, she found her calling elsewhere and started working as a model before making her entry into films. She still endorses products such as Parachute, Liril, Close up, Maybelline and Kingfisher Airlines.

Known to be romantically linked with various men, her list of link ups includes celebrities M.S. Dhoni, Upen Patel, Nihar Pandya, Yuvraj Singh and Ranbir Kapoor; who she had been dating since 2008 and who she broke up with in 2009. She is currently said to be dating Siddharth Mallya, the heir to the Kingfisher chain of businesses.

Deepika had a dream launch into Bollywood with the 2007 release, Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh Khan with Farah Khan as the director. Her first movie was a Kannada movie named Aishwarya which released in 2006. She was then seen in 2008 in the successful movie Bachna Ae Haseeno with Ranbir Kapoor. Deepika starred in another hit movie Love Aaj Kal in 2009. She also starred in Main Aur Mrs. Khanna. She will next be seen in Karthik Calling Karthik, Housefull, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Say and Break Ke Baad in 2010.

Despite being in the industry for almost three years Deepika is still considered as a newcomer and is often compared to her competitor Sonam Kapoor. After her performance of a chilled out youngster in Love Aaj Kal opposite Said Ali Khan, Deepika is now looked upon as an actress with a lot of potential and untapped talent.
