Baazigar was directed by Abbas Mustan and produced by Ganesh Jain released in 1993. It is regarded as one of the best romantic classics in Indian Cinema.

The multi star cast consists of Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Shilpa Shetty, Raakhee Gulzar, Dalip Tahil, Anant Mahadevan, Siddharth and Johnny Lever. It was written by Robin Bhatt, Akash Khurana and Javed Siddiqui. The movie had hit songs by Anu Malik some of which were “yeh kaali kaali aankhein”, “baazigar o baazigar”, “ae mere humsafar” and “kitabein bahut si”.

The movie’s story is about a revenge seeking Ajay (Shahrukh), son of a successful entrepreneur Vishwanath Sharma (Anant). Vishwanath was betrayed by a trusted employee Madan Chopra (Dalip) who takes over their businesses. The Sharma family then faces a lot of troubles and poverty. Vishwanath and his young daughter die whereas Ajay’s mom (Raakhee) suffers a mental trauma and loses touch with reality.

All this leads Ajay to become a ruthless relentless killer and he wants to destroy Madan’s family. He starts off by dating Seema (Shilpa) Madan’s eldest daughter. They keep their affair a secret and he eventually kills her. Ajay disguises himself for Priya (Kajol) the younger sister as Vicky Malhotra. Karan (Shushant) is the police inspector who investigates Seema’s death and helps her because he loves her.

Vicky/Ajay ends up killing quite a few people connected to the Chopra family in his quest for revenge. Ajay’s true identity is revealed at the end to Priya who also finds out the truth about her backstabbing father. Disgusted at him she sympathizes with Ajay. He manages to kill Madan after a scuffle but Madan’s death he stabs Ajay. Ajay’s mother is cured off her illness and he tells her that he has reclaimed what was rightfully theirs. He then dies in his mother’s arms.
