Being the son the legendary Bollywood director Yash Chopra has its benefits. Aditya Chopra started his career by assisting his father with many movies like Chandni, Lamhe and Darr. After gaining considerable experience, eventually his father gave him the opportunity to direct his own film, which he offered to produce. Aditya co-wrote the movie along with Javed Siddiqui. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge was an unbelievable success. It has been the longest running Hindi movie in the history of Bollywood. He took a short break from directing to write the script for his father’s film; Dil To Pagal Hai, which was another box office hit.
After five years he came out with a second film he directed and wrote; Mohabbatein. He introduced his younger bother, Udhay Chopra as one of the lead characters in the movie. Though the movie was successful, people expected something more from the director of DDLJ. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was his third movie as a director, which also stared superstar Shahrukh Khan like in his previous movies. This was yet another movie which was well received by the audience and critics. Besides directing, he has produced and written many movies, some of which are Salaam Namaste, Chak De! India, Bunty Aur Babli, Aaja Nachle and Dil Bole Hadippa. He has won numerous awards to his credit.
Yash Raj Film Studios, which is located in Mumbai was created and designed by Aditya and his then wife Payal. In 2007, he became the Vice President of Yash Raj Film. This media shy talented directed has been a part of many memorable moments in Bollywood in recent years. His movies are full of fun, love and unforgettable songs. With his flare for story telling and direction along with his experience, we can surely expect more from this maestro.
