Story : Bunty (Aditya Roy Kapor) does not believe in the institution of the marriage. He has grown up seeing his parents spend their life fighting with each other. He gets the opportunity to revisit the past. Will he be able to make his parent’s love story successful and change his opinion of getting married?
Action Replayy is a comedy flick that captures the charming essence of Retro of glorious 1970s. It is refreshing to see the make- up and costumes of the 70’s era. Bell bottomed trousers with twist dance steps recreates the magic in the movie in a comical fashion. Movie has a vibrant appeal that impresses the new generation audience with its remarkable 70’s style. Akshay with his long-haired look and Aishwarya with her piggy hairs bring the romance of past years to life. Overall music of the movie is average and Pritam is able to deliver one chartbuster “Zor ka jhatka”.
Movie does manage to keep the audience engaged with its colourful dance sequences and appealing dresses. However, it is not a laughter riot and the funny gaga are not funny enough. First half of the movie showcases the ongoing spat between Akshay and Aishwarya. The twist in the story comes when son Bunty revisit the past. He is able to do a make-over of his dad Akshay who ultimately lures Aishwarya to be his wife and defeat the Rannvijay in this love race.
The film is believed to be inspired from “Back To The Future”. Action Replayy does not score well in terms of its script that fails to keep the laughter momentum going. Akshay’s goofy avatar is overkill. Aishwarya manages to cast her charm as a charming lady from 70’s. Performances from the veterans like Kirron Kher and Om Puri are average. Movie lacks a well written script to score off well. Watch the movie to feel the magical aura of the 70’s and celebrate the festivities of Diwali in retro style.
